Tembo Plains Camp sits within Sapi Private Reserve, a photographic reserve that lies alongside a World Heritage Site, Mana Pools National Park. Established by the Great Plains as part of their mission to convert vast tracts of Africa into pure conservation land, the reserve is a haven for rare African wild dogs, lions, leopards, elephants, and buffalo.
The camp’s design, a unique combination of canvas and stone walls, pays homage to the ancient Zimbabwe Ruins while still giving you the authentic under-canvas safari feeling. The focus here is centered around adventure, with guests having the opportunity to take part in plenty of day and night game drives as well as walking safaris in the area surrounding the camp. What’s more, the camp’s proximity to the Zambezi provides a unique opportunity to get a view of this stunning area while canoeing down one of Africa’s mightiest rivers.
Purpose-built safari vehicles enable you to have up-close encounters with the predators and ungulate species that call the area home. Fold-down windscreens, raised roofs and photographic bars mean that the vehicles provide the perfect vantage point from which to capture the beauty of the African bush.
