The Okavango Delta is a world-famous, water-drenched wonderland where Burchell’s zebra graze under the watchful eyes of leopards and lions as African jacana and pygmy geese fly overhead. Set within this immense wildlife paradise is Mombo Camp, a private concession within Moremi Game Reserve. Mombo Camp is home to two famous groups of predators: the star of the renowned film, Eye of the Leopard, Legadema and her daughter Pula, and the Moporota pride of lions. Together they offer thrilling game drives as guests seek them out. Black and white rhinos have also been reintroduced into the area, making for incredible Big 5 possibilities.
At Mombo Camp, you may have that familiar ‘home from home’ feeling as the tents are the size of some city apartments: the spacious en suite bathroom has a double shower with views over the plains and the private outdoor deck has both an alfresco shower and a shaded daybed area that begs to be used for an afternoon siesta or jetlag-soothing massage.
The rest of the camp is as luxurious with two plunge pools, a gym, excellent dining, and a nearby photography hide to get those once-in-a-lifetime shots of a feeding fish eagle or a playful newborn warthog, baby bristles, and all.

Rooms
Standard Twin Tent
Mombo Camp’s nine luxurious tented suites are raised almost two meters off the ground and are connected by charming wooden walkways. This not only allows animals to wander freely beneath the camp but also enhances the magnificent views of the Delta.
The luxurious and spacious canvas tents boast wooden floors and feature king-sized beds cocooned in mosquito netting, dedicated lounge areas, and en suite bathrooms with double showers and vanities. An additional outdoor shower allows for back-to-basics close-ups with nature.
Each luxury tent extends onto a private verandah with spectacular views over the calm waters and flitting birdlife of the Okavango Delta.
Facilities
Mombo Camp’s extensive main area is raised to provide wandering space for the teeming wildlife below. Lily-filled waterways and floodplains filled to the brim with wildlife provide unforgettable views from the laid-back lounge, the well-stocked library, and the social hub of the bar.
Passing wildlife is easily spotted from the decks and the camp’s fire pit is a great place to share stories with fellow travelers. Cool down in one of two plunge pools, work out in the gym, or uncoil with a massage on your private deck. Keen photographers, birders, and animal spotters will want to head for the hide to await predators and other action. Veteran rhino monitor Poster Malongwa will enthrall as he explains the fragile return of black and white rhinos to the area and the ongoing efforts to conserve these endangered gentle giants from outside threats.
Children will love being part of the Bush Buddy program, where they can flex their storytelling and poetry-writing skills, make jewelry, take part in animal tracking, and learn how the San Bushman make dyes and paints for their legendary rock paintings.
Dining
Excellent food and unforgettable sundowners complete the foodie experience here. Both tasty and plentiful, the day starts with early morning breakfast, a large brunch, game drive snacks (choose your nuts, dried fruit, or sweets from old-fashioned Mason jars), afternoon tea, and sundowner drinks making up the day's fare before a truly delectable dinner.
Mombo Camp has a 'kgotla' (or open-air boma) for traditional outdoor dining around a convivial fire and under the twinkling African stars where the Mombo Choir can be heard serenading guests with their dulcet tones and lilting African rhythms. If views of the floodplains are what you are after, meals can also be taken on the raised timber deck overlooking the magnificent Delta.
Private dining can be arranged for a romantic evening for two as can daytime picnics where you will be surrounded by nothing but the intricate waterways.
