The down-to-earth Nuarro Lodge has an idyllic tropical setting and the property spans more than a mile along dazzling white sand beaches in northern Mozambique. The lodge is surrounded by coastal vegetation, including ancient baobab trees, and looks out over the calm blue waters of the Indian Ocean. Between July and November every year, scan the horizon for humpback whales or spend time with researchers listening to incredible underwater whale melodies through a hydrophone.
Staged on a beautiful peninsula that is virtually unknown to the world, your stay at Nuarro throughout the year is guaranteed to be authentic and peaceful. Hundreds of hectares of land, mangrove forests, reefs, and ocean surround the lodge and are all protected by a national marine reserve. The lodge employs about 80 Macau villagers and actively supports community initiatives.
Sheltered by Nanatha Bay, ocean waters are calm and the reef has ideal conditions for underwater photographers (especially for macro sea life) and divers to explore its caves and stunning gorgonia corals. Unique diving experiences at Nuarro include fluorescent and night dives, rebreather, and scooter diving. Mountain biking, sailing, kayaking, beach picnics, village visits, and scenic trips to the lighthouse on the Baixo de Pinda peninsular are other activities on offer. Be sure to take a few days to just kick back, enjoy the sea breeze, and pamper yourself with a massage or two…
