Ideally located between the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and the southern Serengeti, the Lake Masek Tented Camp in Tanzania offers year-round game viewing of the Big 5, and access to the annual Wildebeest Migration from roughly December to April each year. This eco-friendly camp is set on the edge of Lake Masek and enjoys panoramic views over the water and distant mountain peaks. The tented suites are basic but spacious and have been built on wooden platforms, with all the necessary amenities for a comfortable stay including a stand-alone bathtub and a romantic outdoor shower.
The landscape consists mostly of short grass plains that allow for easy game viewing and attract the annual migration of wildebeest after the first spring rains. It is here where the mega herds congregate to calve, which attracts a large number of cheetahs, leopards, lions, and hyenas to the area. After the ‘green’ months, big cat sightings are rarer but there is a good chance of spotting elephants, smaller cats, flamingos, and plenty of other birdlife that are attracted by the lake. In addition to game drives, optional extra visits to archaeological sites and hot-air ballooning can be arranged.
Activities
Located in the southern Serengeti overlooking the Ndutu plains this is the perfect location to experience the wildebeest calving season. Enjoy lovely views of Lake Masek while watching the sunset over the Ndutu plains.
