Ultra-private Mwiba Lodge is nestled discreetly among gigantic boulders overlooking a rocky gorge of the Arugusinyai River, in a private reserve in the southern Serengeti. Studded with coral and acacia trees, this fertile landscape has over 30 freshwater springs passing through it, making it a favorite locale for elephants, kudu, and lions.
A symphony of rock, wood, canvas, and thatch, Mwiba Lodge has been designed to blend perfectly with the natural surroundings of the gorge. Exquisite interiors enhance the stunning views, the food and service are sublime, and game drives, safari walks and special bush excursions for children consistently deliver fantastic wildlife encounters. During the calving season in the southern Serengeti (December to April), you are witness to the incredible spectacle of thousands upon thousands of wildebeest and their young, a time when there is an abundance of fresh grass available to provide the essential grazing for the next phase of their migration.
With the ideal blend of in-room spa treatments, fascinating cultural outings (e.g. walking with the Hadzabe or Datoga tribe interactions), and incredible wildlife experiences, Mwiba Lodge offers a premier safari destination that will appeal to discerning travelers. The Mwiba concession has several natural springs that attract an abundance of plains game and predators alike, especially during the calving season of the annual Wildebeest Migration from about January to March.

Rooms
Tented Suite
Ten gorgeously appointed suites are placed in perfect seclusion on timber platforms overlooking the river and thicket. The vast interiors feature a pale palette of cream and tan, incorporating a lounge and bedroom area leading out onto a spacious private verandah with a table, chairs and loungers.
King-sized beds swathed in netting are cooled by fans and the Evening Breeze air-conditioning system at night, and the adjoining en suite bathrooms feature indoor and outdoor showers, as well as enormous bathtubs with spectacular views. Sofas convert into single beds for a third guest in each suite and cots are available for infants.
Facilities
In the main building housing the library, lounge, bar, and dining room, a collaboration of both traditional and modern design elements features layers of textured creams paired with tans and accents of black and charcoal. Soft linen sofas, ornately carved tables, and cascading lighting stand in contrast to dressed stone pillars and mantles. The rooms flow into each other and out onto the timber-decked infinity pool terrace that boasts wonderful views over the natural springs below, while a secluded hot tub is nestled among the boulders. In-room spa treatments and a gym room allow you to work off the indulgences of a decadent menu served up by the chefs.
Dining
A team of experienced chefs is on hand at Mwiba Lodge to cater to your every need, providing wholesome and healthy fare featuring the freshest ingredients. Rise in the morning to the aroma of freshly baked bread and coffee wafting from the kitchen, indulge your senses in fresh tropical fruits and juices, and enjoy a delightful table picnic lunch of carefully prepared delicacies as you spend the day on safari. Evenings are given over to relaxation, indulgence, and enjoyment as a selection of scrumptious dishes – like Caesar salad, perfect steak, and fig tartlets accompanied by excellent South African wines – emerge from the kitchen. Adventurous diners can enjoy delectable nibbles in a ‘treehouse picnic’.
