Time + Tide Kakuli is situated on the confluence of the Luwi and Luangwa rivers in the South Luangwa National Park. The concentration of game in the world-renowned Luangwa Valley is among the densest in Africa.
This section of the park has over 60 different animal species, so a combination of walking safaris and game drives is the ideal way to see a variety of wildlife. Another worthwhile activity is bird watching from the camp's hide: the area has over 400 bird species.
Highlights
Activities
An intimate, authentic reed & thatch bush camp, the staff was lovely, and seeing lions on the riverbank below was a highlight; I'd recommend combining Kakuli with one of its sister camps to get a great diverse experience.
Rooms
Standard Tent
Kakuli Bush Camp offers four walk-in safari tents that are spacious and comfortable. Each tent is equipped with its own large en suite bathroom, where you can enjoy a hot outdoor shower under the stars.
Facilities
Relax on the wooden deck as you watch the wildlife grazing on the lawn that leads down to the Luwi and Luangwa rivers. Experience a mixture of exciting safari activities such as walking safaris and both day and night game drives.
Nighttime is the perfect time to experience predators in action. Another pastime to enjoy is bird watching, with over 400 species of bird in the area. In February and March, the rivers are high and boat activities are also available.
Dining
Kakuli Bush Camp offers cuisine of the highest standards and the camp's chef can cater for almost any dietary needs, with advance notice. Days in the bush usually start early, so a light breakfast is served at dawn before your first safari.
The camp then serves a lavish brunch, afternoon tea, and dinner at around 8.30 pm.
