Situated on remote Nxaraga Island in the heart of the Okavango Delta's permanent wetlands, Camp Okavango assures a year-round water wilderness experience. Explore the area's winding, reed-lined channels and thick riverine forests on boats or mekoro for rare species such as the sitatunga antelope and Pel's fishing owl, and get great views of large mammals like elephant, giraffe, and buffalo.
The experienced and well-trained resident guides will introduce you to the Delta on mokoro (fiberglass canoes based on a traditional dugout design) or motorboat safaris. You will also be guided on thrilling nature walks around the smaller nearby islands, which are great for bird watching - look out for carmine bee-eaters, lilac-breasted rollers, and African fish eagles.
There are only 11 suites and one family room, all connected by silligna wood walkways through ancient mangosteen trees. In addition to an airstrip and pilot's room, Camp Okavango has two fire pits, a rim-flow swimming pool, and several expansive viewing decks for game viewing by day and stargazing by night. All suites and walkways are raised, allowing the vegetation to flourish and for the smaller game to pass through unhindered.
The camp is committed to preserving the Delta's incredible natural beauty as far as possible, and all timber and furniture are from renewable plantations. An off-grid solar plant installation provides continuous electricity for thermodynamic geysers and LED lighting. All of the wastewater is recycled through a state-of-the-art system to be reused on the grounds and airfield.

Facilities
The public areas are spacious and consist of a series of decks on different levels, all with expansive views of the Delta. There are two fire pits for stargazing and nightcaps and a rim-flow swimming pool for cooling off in the hot months from about October to March. All your water-based game-viewing activities will depart from the jetty, and the private airstrip is a 5-minute walk away. Game viewing is water- rather than land-based as Camp Okavango is in a permanent wetland.
There is also a lounge and bar area, a separate dining area, a library and computer room, and a safari shop.
There is a daily complimentary laundry service.
Dining
The dining room at Camp Okavango leads onto an open-air patio where a campfire will keep you warm after dark.
The expansive deck is perfect for alfresco meals, and a silver service dinner by candlelight will complete your African dining experience.
