The Mara Serena Safari Lodge has a beautiful hilltop location overlooking the rolling plains and woodlands of the Masai Mara, one of the world's richest wildlife sanctuaries. The annual migration of wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle takes place across these plains, and even outside of the migration season you can look forward to spectacular sightings.
You can spend your day on a game drive; enjoy a morning bird walk with the lodge's resident naturalist, or visit a traditional Masai Manyatta (village). A great extra is a hot-air balloon safari where you can enjoy a bird ' s-eye view of the wildlife below and then descend to a scenic champagne breakfast served in the middle of the bush. In the evening, you can enjoy tribal dancing displays, as well as wildlife and cultural talks.
Highlights
Activities
Fantastic views - especially when the migration makes its arrival into the Masai Mara! I loved the welcome dance by the Maasai warriors around the fire.
Rooms
Standard Room
All the guest rooms at Mara Serena Safari Lodge are housed in individual domed huts grouped in a circular formation. Each room is carefully positioned to ensure magnificent views from the balcony of the Mara River and plains below.
The furnishings in each room have been inspired by traditional Masai art. The decor is cheerful, with a modern bathroom including a large shower. Beds have mosquito nets to ensure a peaceful night's sleep.
Facilities
The cosy sitting areas are decorated in an African theme as is the bar area that opens onto a wide shady terrace with breathtaking views across the Mara.
Relax next to the swimming pool on one of the many sunloungers and watch the surrounding wildlife. Buy gifts for those at home at the small gift shop and keep in touch in the convenient business center.
Dining
The Mara Serena Safari Lodge dining room serves a vast buffet and overlooks a waterhole where you'll frequently see elephants, wildebeest, and other wildlife. In the evening the restaurant has a relaxed, candlelit atmosphere.
The lodge provides you with plenty of opportunities to dine in the open air, including breakfast by the Hippo Pool, bush dinners, private picnics, and evening sundowners at one of Mara's many vantage points.
