Located to the east of the Savuti Channel in the hills overlooking a great expanse of golden savannah and nearby waterhole, Ghoha Hills Savuti Lodge is ideally located to explore this famously game-rich corner of the Chobe National Park. Rustically designed to echo the landscape and nearly become a treehouse for grown-ups, the lodge runs almost entirely on solar power and thus has a very low carbon footprint.
Set at the heart of Botswana’s ‘predator capital’, the lodge offers guests the chance to sit in comfort and watch animals as they come to the camp’s waterhole to drink – photographers may want to visit the hide for a closer view! Savuti is known for its large elephant population, especially in the dry season, and it forms an important migratory corridor for thousands of zebra during the summer green season. No wonder, then, that Savuti has a reputation for high-impact drama: the big cats are all present, as are large packs of spotted hyenas, and wild dogs are often seen. Twice daily game drives with expert guides reveal the wildlife wonders of Savuti and full day trips to explore areas further afield can be arranged.
Perfect as part of an itinerary exploring Chobe and the Okavango Delta, Ghoha Hills Savuti Lodge offers intimate accommodation, excellent guides, fantastic food, and friendly service.

Facilities
The main lodge is constructed from wood and thatch and seemingly ‘grows’ out of the hill on which it has been built. Lime-washed teak decks and high ceilings create a sense of space that flows between the lounge, bar, and dining area, which are great for spotting birds above the treetops. A stairway leads down to the welcoming fire, where you can watch for shooting stars on one of Savuti’s crystal-clear nights. Off to the side, a secluded stone swimming pool has sun loungers scattered around it, perfect for a lazy afternoon snooze.
Dining
A delicious and varied menu ensures you will never go hungry at Ghoha Hills. The early breakfast buffet features a choice of fresh muffins, pastries, cereals, yogurts, and fresh fruit to set you up for the morning’s game viewing, which also takes in a stop for tea and home-baked biscuits (or take a basket for a picnic lunch). On your return, a sumptuous hot-and-cold brunch will do any appetite justice. A late-afternoon high tea is served before your afternoon game drive, which ends at sunset with chilled drinks and delectable snacks. Evenings are given over to convivial fireplace conversation before a delicious three-course meal is served in the dining room, accompanied by a selection of quaffable wines.
