An ambitious, eight-year architectural project has come to life in a remote corner of the Namib Desert. Set on the Namib Tsaris Conservancy, a 45-minute drive from the towering Sossusvlei dunes, The Nest has been modelled on the elaborate, otherworldly form of a giant sociable weaver bird’s nest, constructed mostly from thatch and incorporating captivating art and design pieces.
It is a private villa, open all year round and available on an exclusive-use basis, providing multi-generational families and groups of friends with one of the most personalized and luxurious private accommodations in Namibia. Complete with Wi-Fi and solar-powered lighting, The Nest comes with a private guide and game-drive vehicle, a chef, and housekeeping staff. There is a swimming pool and children’s play area. With three double en suite bedrooms plus a children’s room, the villa sleeps multiple guests comfortably.
Lying in an area of stunning natural beauty and surprisingly good wildlife, The Nest @ Sossus Villa is a perfect base from which to explore the Namib Desert. Morning drives to the Sossusvlei dunes are balanced with nature drives in the conservancy and you have the chance to enjoy nature walks, too. You can also sit back at night to a flood-lit waterhole (giraffe, leopard, and hyena are regular visitors) and some of the most impressive night skies you will have seen, guided through the cosmos by your guide. Hot-air ballooning, helicopter, and scenic flights over Namib and Sossusvlei can be arranged as extras.

Rooms
The Nest @ Sossus
The Nest has three large and luxurious double bedrooms, each designed with a thatch ceiling stretching low to the dark wooden floor. Spacious and lit through circular windows, the rooms have their bathrooms where you find showers plus all the conveniences from fluffy towels, bathrobes, and slippers to toiletries, insect repellent, and a vanity kit. The rooms are extremely comfortable and have an electric fan and a safe for comfort and peace of mind.
Other rooms
One of the double bedrooms has a smaller child’s bedroom attached to it, containing bunk beds designed in the form of small bird nests. The room comes with a desk and an en suite bathroom.
Facilities
The three bedrooms at The Nest lead off from a central communal area where you find a lounge and dining area, a study, and a modern, open-plan kitchen. The mood in the villa is light and spacious with minimalist art pieces scattered throughout the property creating a quirky and interesting ambience. Step outside and there are more seating and dining areas plus a pool and children’s playground. Wi-Fi is available at The Nest and the villa’s lights are powered by solar energy, also allowing you to recharge electrical devices.
The Nest comes complete with a private guide and vehicle, ready to take you to the Sossusvlei dunes or into the reserve for a nature drive. A personal chef takes care of all the cooking, and a butler and housekeeping staff ensure all your needs are catered for, including a complimentary laundry service.
Dining
You enjoy three meals a day at The Nest @ Sossus Villa, served with complimentary local drinks. Since you have your chef, you can decide on the meal times but a day in the Namib is best started early. A hot breakfast is prepared before you venture out into the desert - porridge and cereals as well as bacon, eggs, and toast - and you enjoy a freshly prepared lunch – usually salads, a pasta dish, or a light meal – before a grand, multi-course evening dinner, best served outside under the stars.
The standard of catering is very high at The Nest and dietary requirements can be accommodated with prior notification.
