Making the most of its hilltop setting, Subeti Tented Camp offers intimate lodging in the Serengeti region. Treating you to sensational views, the camp is well located to deliver a first-class safari both in its private reserve and Serengeti National Park itself. It has easy access to the Ngorongoro Crater, too.
Subeti sits in the Maswa Kimali Game Reserve, bordering the south-western. Such a setting means the camp offers morning and afternoon game drives and activities restricted to private reserves such as spot-lit night drives and guided bush walks. There are only six suites available, which ensures an intimate experience, especially as each group has its game vehicle and guide for a completely personalized safari. Indeed, the entire camp can be booked privately, allowing families and groups to enjoy home-from-home comforts and flexibility.
Open all year round and welcoming families with children, Subeti Tented Camp places a firm focus on the wildlife experience. The main attraction is, of course, the annual Wildebeest Migration when a million animals (mostly gnu but also zebra and antelope) make their way around the greater Serengeti ecosystem, flooding the plains around Subeti between January and April. But such is the wealth of wildlife in the region that superb game viewing can be enjoyed all year at this camp, even outside the Migration season.
Highlights
Activities
The term “classic safari” comes to mind when I think of Subeti, located in a crowd-free area near the Serengeti and crater a person can easily envision what safari was like in years gone by. This camp gets to the heart of what a safari is about walking safaris, night game drives, passionate guides, beautiful and ever-changing landscapes. This camp would meet the wishes of die-hard safari fans and definitely wow anyone on their first trip to Africa.
Facilities
Subeti Tented Camp is one of the simpler camps in the Serengeti region. The unfussy main lodge is home to a lounge, bar, and dining area though meals are enjoyed outside if the weather permits. The camp has a generator that supplies power for electric lights and battery recharging stations, and you also enjoy a light laundry service.
Dining
Subeti’s rates include house wines, beers, local spirits, water, juice, and soft drinks (fine wine, spirits, and champagne are extra) and you will sit down to three meals a day, not to mention snacks, tea and coffee, and sunset drinks. Breakfasts and lunches are often served al fresco and romantically inclined travellers will be pleased to hear that private dining is available.
