Camp Ndlovu is situated in Welgevonden, a private game reserve in South Africa’s beautiful Waterberg district. This part of Limpopo province contains the majority of the Waterberg Biosphere – the first region in the north of the country to receive the UNESCO designation of a Biosphere Reserve. This unspoiled wilderness has produced exceptional archaeological discoveries that date back to the Stone Age and as far as the origin of humankind.
In the present day, however, Camp Ndlovu is located only a 2-hour drive from Johannesburg and offers guests an exclusive opportunity to enjoy spectacular game viewing in ancient natural beauty: this unchanged landscape is home to the Big 5 and other unusual wildlife like honey badgers, aardvark, cheetah and brown hyena (the rarest species of hyena). Welgevonden is also a bird-watching paradise, with more than 300 recorded species.
Camp Ndlovu is designed to accommodate only a select number of guests in five luxury private suites. Ideal for couples or honeymooners looking for an intimate and private holiday, it also offers families the option of enjoying a safari in a malaria-free region. The Waterberg is a great option for travelers returning to South Africa who want to explore a different area of the country.
The heavily restricted number of vehicles within the reserve means that you can enjoy the thrill of getting truly close to wildlife, far away from the crowds. After an adventurous game drive or guided nature walk, de-stress with a holistic spa treatment in beautiful surroundings or an invigorating workout in the camp’s well-equipped gym. In the evening, as the sun sinks into the pink horizon, simply cozy up in front of the fireplace in the main lounge, or sink into one of the comfortable hanging loungers on the outside deck and watch the resident wildlife stroll by.
