An exclusive island located in the middle of the Zambezi River, Tsowa Safari Island is the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. In this luxury camp fringed by an ancient forest, the ripple of the mighty Zambezi is broken only by the calls of African fish eagle and the island’s resident Pel’s fishing owls.
Feel your stress melt away as you drive through the Zambezi National Park to the river’s edge and catch a boat to your final destination. The intimate camp offers an authentic wilderness experience while focusing on personal service. Guests can take part in a plethora of water- and land-based activities led by knowledgeable local guides. Spend your days on game drives and walks in the Zambezi National Park – inhabited by large herds of elephant, buffalo, lion, hyena, giraffe, and numerous antelope species. Or spend the day on the water, canoeing, or relaxing on a river cruise.
Easily accessible from Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, Livingstone in Zambia, Kasane in Botswana, and the Namibian border, the island is the ideal point from which to start a once-in-a-lifetime southern African safari. The famous Kruger National Park, World Heritage Site iSimangaliso, and Cape Town in South Africa are a short flight away.

River View Safari Tent
A modern-day explorer’s camp, Tsowa’s luxury tents are nestled beneath the shade of the island’s forest on the banks of the Zambezi. Carefully positioned to ensure maximum privacy and the best views, the free-standing tents are set well apart from one another. Sit on your private veranda in the early morning and late afternoon, watching as wildlife visits the river edge in the Zambezi National Park on the mainland. Inside, the natural, raw elements give the tents a light and airy feel. Nothing can quite beat lying back on the soft, white linen after a rinse in the outdoor shower and listening to the sounds of the park.
Facilities
Tsowa’s setting under the cool canopy of magnificent trees makes this space calm and quiet, a surreal island getaway. Wooden decks constructed under massive jackal berry trees create a stylish lounge and dining area that can accommodate 16 guests. Cool off here with a book in the hot midday hours or take a dip in the pool, chilled drink in hand. When the day is done, grab a sundowner from the bar tent and relax on the decks as you watch the Zambezi flow by. After dark and dinner, the open-air dining area will lead you to the sunken fire pit where you can share stories of the day’s adventures.
Dining
Enjoy delicious meals on the dining deck, eating breakfast while looking out onto the river lunch under the shade of ancient trees, and dinner under the stars.
