Lying in northern Tanzania and named after the life-giving Tarangire River, Tarangire National Park is famous for its massive herds of buffalo, as well as elephants that flock to the Sllale Swamp area to drink and play. And where there are buffalo, there are bound to be their predators. It adds up to an under-explored but action-packed slice of authentic Africa, and Kuro Tarangire – a canvas-and-candlelight camp – is at its warm heart.
With just six Meru-style en suite tents and a family tent, Kuro Tarangire is an intimate camp that allows you to enjoy nature with as few distractions as possible. Game drives are limited to a maximum of six guests at a time, and night drives can be booked to go in search of leopards, owls, and other nocturnal creatures.
To truly immerse yourself in Tarangire, leave the 4x4 behind, lace up your hiking boots, and head out with an experienced guide on a bush walk to find some of the 550 bird species, zebras, roan antelope, and giraffes that are fortunate enough to call this landscape of baobabs, acacias and kigellas their home. Kuro Tarangire is a dry-season camp and is open from June to November every year.
