Nxamaseri Island Lodge is a unique African experience in the Panhandle of the Okavango Delta. This small and exclusive lodge is one of the oldest in the Delta and is renowned as one of the best fly-fishing destinations in Africa. While not a big game viewing area, the beautiful aquatic environment and fantastic bird-watching opportunities immerse you into this celebrated landscape, where the intricacies of nature flourish and time stands still.
Nxamaseri Island Lodge is the closest lodge to the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Tsodilo Hills. The four massifs that makeup Tsodilo Hills are home to around 4,500 ancient rock paintings, one of the largest concentrations of rock art in the world. The paintings are spread over 200 sites and taking a helicopter ride from the lodge’s private airstrip is a true delight before you delve into the fascinating bushcraft and lore of the Delta.
Back at the lodge, you will explore the waterways of the Okavango by motorized boat and mokoro excursions and guides will share their in-depth knowledge of the area and the inhabitants that include crocodiles, hippos, otters, swamp antelope, and bird species too numerous to count.

Chalet
Each of the thatched, canvas-walled chalets is a quiet haven privately situated within the indigenous forest and features a private viewing deck. Teak walkways link the rooms to the main area of the lodge, and each is adorned with professional photography taken of the Okavango Delta. The chalets have large en-suite showers with twin basins and a separate toilet. A range of bathroom amenities is available including bio-degradable soaps and shower gels. Each evening your bed will be turned down and if there is a chill in the air, hot water bottles are tucked under the blankets as a welcome surprise.
Facilities
The main area of the lodge is open-plan with a thatched roof. It consists of a lounge, a dining area, and a bar. There is a large deck that overlooks the water, where a firepit is the preferred meeting place to while away evening hours and share stories of the day’s adventures. You can also take a dip in the swimming pool, complete with sun loungers, and privately set in the forest. There is a small curio shop to purchase beautiful trinkets for your stay in one of Africa’s unspoiled wildernesses.
Dining
Meals at Nxamaseri Island Lodge are served in the communal dining area, after which you can sit by the firepit with views of the Nxamaseri River. Hearty African-style fair is served buffet-style by attentive staff, and arrangements can be made for private dining in your chalet.
