A four-bedroom house set in a beguiling landscape of granite boulders and bird-filled woodland, Khayelitsha offers a private-home experience for travelers to discover next-door Matobo National Park by themselves or with a guide.
Built from timber and decorated in a modern, eclectic, and stylish way, Khayelitsha is well-appointed for a family or group of friends to enjoy exclusive comfort and convenience. There is plenty of indoor and outdoor lounging space plus fireside couches, sunny viewing decks as well as a small pool. Solar power ensures electric light and battery recharging facilities.
Accessible via a short drive from the city of Bulawayo, the house sits on 240 hectares of private land, perfect for hiking and mountain biking. It also has a border with the Matobo National Park, one of Zimbabwe’s smaller reserves, and a magical blend of wildlife, scenery, and adventure. Home to many antelope species, warthogs, and monkeys, Matobo is also a haven for rarely-seen rhinos and leopards, and the bird watching is excellent. Guided game drives are available from Khayelitshe, and as there are no lions, elephants, or buffalo in the park, Matobo is also a good destination for walks and horseback safaris.
