The Kasonso Busanga, located right in the heart of the Zambian Busanga Plains, serves as a prime game viewing area. It’s ideal for those seeking authentic wildlife encounter experiences. The standards of dining, guiding, and service are high and several lodges in the Northern Kafue are among the most luxurious in Southern Africa.
Set in pristine wilderness, the Busanga is often referred to as the ‘mini-Serengeti’. It is home to 158 mammal species, including puku, lechwe, wildebeest, roan antelope, buffalo, elephant, and an abundance of hippos. Predator sightings are particularly exceptional with the likes of lion, leopard, cheetah, and the endangered wild dog. More than 491 species of birds also make it a top destination for avid birdwatchers.
Kasonso Busanga is a photographer’s dream, and you can embark on an adventure of a lifetime on thrilling game drives and bush walks - that will highlight the delicate intricacies of this breathtaking landscape. This camp is seasonal and only open annually between 1 July and 10 November.

Canvas Tent
This bush camp features canvas-walled tents, each with an en-suite bathroom, gauze windows, and thatched roofs. Verandas looking over the plains create an ambiance of relaxation and an awe-inspiring natural setting for guests to unwind after a safari adventure.
Facilities
Stationed on the edge of a teak forest overlooking a seasonal floodplain, Kasonso Basunag has a wild feel to it. There is a canvas mass tent in the center of it, with a small, cushioned lounge and a dinner table. In front of the tent is a campfire area where nightly drinks are enjoyed and stories are recounted under thousands of stars.

Wake up to enjoy breakfast and coffee at sunrise as the plains glow to welcome the new day, picnic lunches are also a favorite pastime.
